She made her debut as an actor in 1997, at age 13. In 1997, Vandervoort made her acting debut at age 13. After completing several classes as well as background work on Canadian shows like Road to Avonlea or Harriet the Spy she landed her speaking role on the Canadian children's horror collection Goosebumps.
