Zoe Saldana was born on June 19, 1978 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her father was Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. Her family was raised by her mother who lived in Queens. After she turned 10, she along with her parents relocated to the Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe was able to establish an interest in performance dancing when she lived in Dominican Republic. At the prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy Zoe took ballet classes along with other forms of dancing.
