Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role, she won the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second-youngest winner in Oscar the history of Oscars. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born July 24th 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her role as the enthusiastic and lively girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. After an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who came from Scotland to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. Following her move into New Zealand, in the United States, she became an adolescent. Paquin made her debut as a child with a character in the Jane Eyre title character in the Franco Zeffirelli novel Jane Eyre followed by an important role in Fly Away Home. Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997, she played the queen of Spain in a smaller character. She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
